What is the output format of the GCP coordinates?

Supported Coordinate Systems

MAPEO actively supports the following coordinate systems:

  • UTM coordinate systems with EGM96 vertical reference (EPSG:5773)
(commonly referred to as “Google Earth height”)
  • WGS 84 geographic coordinates (EPSG:4326)
  • EPSG:31730

Handling of Other Coordinate Systems

If coordinates are supplied in a different coordinate system, MAPEO will automatically convert them to the appropriate UTM coordinate system for your zone, using the EGM96 vertical reference (EPSG:5773).

Survey Data and Metadata Requirements

The surveyor responsible for collecting the Ground Control Point (GCP) coordinates must retain the original measurement files. This ensures that metadata can be retrieved later if needed for validation or debugging purposes (e.g. solution type such as fixed vs float, standard deviations, etc.).

GCP File Format Requirements

The GCP coordinates file uploaded to MAPEO must:

  • Be in .csv or .txt format
  • Follow the provided MAPEO template
  • Clearly specify the EPSG code(s) in the file header

EPSG Code Convention

  • The first number specifies the horizontal coordinate reference system
    (e.g. 32631 for UTM Zone 31N)
  • The second number, separated by a "+", specifies the vertical coordinate reference system
    (e.g. 5773 for EGM96)

📌 If height values are already provided in WGS 84 ellipsoidal heights, no additional vertical EPSG code is required.

In case multiple measurements where done per GCP, output looks as follows:
